Graduate and Professional Student Government of Duke University

The Graduate and Professional Student Government of Duke University (GPSG) is the umbrella student government serving Duke University's 10,000 graduate and professional students. GPSG performs multiple functions, including representing and advocating on students' behalf, planning social, professional, and collaborative programming, and liaising between graduate and professional students and the university administration.

I currently serve as GPSG's president. We have many ongoing initiatives, organized into advocacy and programming portfolios. Some GPSG successes include implementing dental insurance, advocating for greater PhD stipend compensation and cost-of-living adjustments, and instituting 12-month funding for all programs.

Duke F1RSTS is the community of first-generation and/or low-income graduate students at Duke University. Founded in 2018, the group's mission is to provide a community for first-generation and low-income students through professional development and social programming.

I currently serve as Duke F1RSTS' co-president, having been involved with the group since its founding. We welcome students from all disciplines to find community, discuss concerns, and plan initiatives and events that affect all of us.
