The FLIP Lending Library is a space in the Rock containing over 500 free textbooks for students who identify as First-Generation and/or Low-Income to use.

Yellow highlighting means the book is currently in the shelves. Blue highlighting means the book is currently in our own storage, and you can contact jonathan_jaramillo@brown.edu or haley_delarosa@brown.edu to request the book. Pink means a book is currently checked out! You can also email us to request a currently checked out book, or get on the waitlist for one.

How to check out textbooks

  • 1. Please record your name, e-mail, book title, and check-out date in the binder provided in the library, so that we may keep track of our inventory.
  • 2. Record the estimated amount of time you need to use the book for; this could be "three weeks" or “the semester” depending on how long you think you need it.

How to return textbooks

  • 1. To return a book, sign the book back into the binder provided in the library.
  • 2. Our shelves are divided into disciplines, and each discipline has its textbooks organized in alphabetical order; please put your book back in its appropriate discipline and alphabetical position.
